This section contains traditional chess sets that include the pieces and board in a number of different sizes and styles. It can be very difficult selecting the right chess king size. If you're overwhelmed by all the options, we don't blame you. Only a small number of these pieces will work suitably on a 2 1/4" square size - most need a chessboard with 2 1/2" squares (or larger!) They’re also the heaviest and require a massive board, which may overwhelm many small or medium sized rooms. This section includes our very largest chessmen ranging up to several feet tall! These tall chess pieces are very impressive. While tournament size boards have 2 1/4" squares, many of these pieces can also fit a 2" board quite comfortably and some feel that match up is more aesthetically pleasing. They do require larger chess boards, which often makes them the focal point of a room. This is the most popular size due to the large pieces that feel good in your hand.
